Drawing your basket
During the year 2019, I ask a group of asylum seekers and newcomers two questions and send me back the drawings. I could do it via John Paul, a psychotherapist who works within this safe space for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers in Galway, Ireland.
What your basket would be made of?
What would it carry?
This safe space proposes monthly meetings for LGBTQI+ people and workshops where artistic practices are often used to help soothe the difficult process of migrating to a new country. I gathered drawings done by the group and notes from John Paul. For me, this was the debut of collaborative practice. I planned to go there and meet with the group but it became technically impossible due to the COVID Pandemic.
